Your Partner in Creating a Life You Deserve
Hi, I’m Lisa Kimbrell, and I believe everyone has the power to create meaningful change in their life—you don’t have to do it alone. With over 30 years of experience as a counselor and educator, I’ve had the honor of guiding individuals, couples, and families through life’s challenges.
Whether you’re feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, navigating the complexities of ADHD or neurodivergence, or struggling to find harmony in your relationships, I’m here to help. My approach is simple: I listen, I guide, and I empower. Together, we’ll uncover the tools and strategies you need to take control of your journey and make lasting, positive changes.
I understand that taking the first step can be daunting, but this is a safe space where you can feel heard, understood, and supported. My clients often tell me they appreciate my direct but compassionate style—I don’t shy away from the hard conversations, but I approach them with care, always keeping your growth and goals at the center.
“When you’re ready to make changes in your life, you don’t have to do it alone. I’m here to guide you every step of the way.”
Life can feel overwhelming at times, but the right support can make all the difference. At Kimbrell Counseling Services, I offer a range of therapies tailored to meet your unique challenges and goals. Whether you’re seeking personal growth, relationship support, or professional guidance, I’m here to help you move forward with clarity and confidence.
Individual Therapy
When anxiety, ADHD, depression, or life’s challenges start to feel like too much, individual therapy can provide a safe space to reflect, heal, and grow. Together, we’ll work on strategies to help you regain control and build a life that feels fulfilling.
Couples Therapy
Relationships can be hard, but they’re also worth the effort. Whether you’re navigating communication struggles, rebuilding trust, or simply looking to strengthen your bond, couples therapy can help you and your partner create a relationship that’s loving, supportive, and meaningful.
Academic & Career Coaching
Navigating academic or career challenges doesn’t have to be overwhelming. With 26 years of experience as an educator, I offer personalized coaching to help you make informed decisions, set achievable goals, and thrive in your academic or professional journey.
“Because your journey deserves care, expertise, and results.”
At Kimbrell Counseling Services, I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Every session is built around you—your story, your goals, and the tools you need to thrive.
Using trusted, evidence-based methods, I guide clients toward real, lasting change:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Are negative thought patterns holding you back? Through CBT, we’ll identify those unhelpful ways of thinking and replace them with healthier, more productive ones. This evidence-based approach helps you gain control over your emotions and reactions, empowering you to tackle anxiety, depression, and everyday challenges with confidence.
EMDR Therapy
Trauma from the past can linger, affecting how you live today. EMDR therapy provides a structured, compassionate way to process these experiences and leave them behind. Together, we’ll work to reduce their emotional impact so you can move forward with greater clarity, peace, and strength.
Gottman Method for Couples Therapy
Every relationship deserves strong communication, trust, and intimacy. Using the Gottman Method, I help couples navigate challenges, rebuild connections, and create a foundation of mutual respect and understanding. Whether you’re repairing or strengthening your bond, this approach gives you the tools to thrive together.
My goal is to provide a space where you feel safe, understood, and supported—whether you’re navigating life’s challenges, healing from the past, or building stronger relationships. Together, we’ll explore what works best for you and create meaningful, personalized solutions.
I work with individuals and couples who are ready to make meaningful changes in their lives. Whether you’re facing relationship struggles, navigating neurodivergence, or simply trying to find balance in a challenging world, my approach is tailored to your unique needs.
Women in Dysfunctional Relationships
Relationships can feel overwhelming when they lack support or respect. I help women regain confidence, set healthy boundaries, and rebuild their lives with clarity and purpose.
Neurodivergent Individuals (Including ADHD)
Living with ADHD or other neurodivergent traits comes with unique challenges. I provide practical tools and compassionate guidance to help you thrive in a way that aligns with who you are.
Couples Seeking Connection
Relationships are complex, but with the right support, they can also be deeply rewarding. I help couples overcome communication hurdles, resolve conflict, and rediscover the connection that brought them together.
“Whatever your challenges may be, my goal is to provide a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore solutions and build a path forward.”

Your Questions Answered
Answers to Your Most Common Therapy Questions
Starting therapy is a big step, and it’s normal to have questions. Here are some answers to help you feel more informed and comfortable as you begin this journey:
What should I expect in my first session?
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other. We’ll talk about your current concerns, personal history, and goals for therapy. You don’t need to prepare or worry about saying the “right” things—this session is about creating a safe, comfortable space where we can explore how I can best support you.
Do you accept insurance?
Yes, I work with several insurance providers, including:
Aetna
Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield
Cigna
United Healthcare
Various Medicaid plans
If your insurance isn’t listed, don’t hesitate to contact me. I’ll do my best to accommodate your needs or discuss self-pay options.
How does telehealth work?
Telehealth is a convenient and secure way to attend therapy sessions online. Using a HIPAA-compliant platform, I’ll provide a private link for you to join from your phone, tablet, or computer. All you need is a quiet space, a stable internet connection, and a device with a camera. It’s easy to set up and allows you to prioritize your mental health no matter where you are.
How long are therapy sessions?
Each session typically lasts 50 minutes. This allows us enough time to address your concerns while keeping sessions focused and manageable.
How many sessions will I need?
The number of sessions depends on your individual goals and the challenges you’re working through. Some clients find a few sessions helpful, while others prefer ongoing support over a longer period. We’ll discuss a plan that works best for you during our first few meetings.
Do you offer evening or weekend appointments?
Yes, I offer flexible scheduling, including evening appointments, to accommodate busy lifestyles. Contact me to find a time that works for you.
Is therapy confidential?
Yes, your privacy is my priority. Everything we discuss is confidential, except in rare cases where I am legally required to report (e.g., harm to self or others). I’ll explain confidentiality and its limits during our first session.
What if I’m nervous about starting therapy?
Feeling nervous is completely normal, especially if this is your first time in therapy. My goal is to make you feel comfortable, supported, and respected from the moment we start. Remember, therapy is a judgment-free space where you can show up exactly as you are.
